We are seeking a Parts Interpreter & Procurement Officer with proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the Civil Construction industry.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Parts Interpreter & Procurement Officer who will be responsible for the ordering and interpreting of spare parts for heavy vehicles and earthmoving plants.  This role requires the provision of accurate, timely technical and product information to the maintenance team to ensure business productivity is not compromised.

The role also entails purchasing, price negotiation, and managing the company’s Inventory Control Systems.  This role is integral to the construction, maintenance and warehousing functions within the business and involves a close working relationship with the Maintenance Manager and Plant/Transport Allocator.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • System-based parts interpreting using a variety of digital and print resources.
  • Placing, monitoring, and tracking orders with suppliers.
  • Maintain inventoried stock levels and order as required.
  • Supplier management and competitive pricing negotiation.
  • Ongoing maintenance of Inventory Control Systems (spare parts, hire products and yard stock).
  • Preparing inventory/maintenance reports and resolving discrepancies.
  • Upkeep of maintenance records for all plant and equipment.
  • Workshop / Site WHS / Environmental compliance.

 

About you

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a parts interpreter and ideally will have extensive experience with the entire procurement cycle within a large workshop-type environment.  A strong problem-solving ability, computer skills and attention to detail will also be critical to the success of this role. A sound knowledge and understanding of earthmoving plants and associated equipment will be advantageous.

 

What you bring

  • Sound mechanical knowledge and preferred knowledge of Caterpillar products/ equipment. 
  • Proven experience in parts interpreting, ideally an understanding of Cat equipment in a construction / earthmoving environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, multi-task, and prioritise several conflicting priorities.
  • A high level of business and commercial acumen.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
