Job Summary

We are seeking a Survey Manager with proven Civil Construction exposure.

 

The Opportunity

JK Williams (JKW) is a successful civil construction business that places high significance on traditional values while recognizing the importance of contemporary practices. We are currently looking to secure a Survey Manager who will be responsible for a small team of Surveyors and accountable for the Surveying function across a business that has invested extensively in GPS and UTS machine control systems.

 

About you

Ideally, you are a proven performer in a comparable role and are looking to take that next step and make a tangible contribution as a senior member of the team.  You will have previous experience working on large and small-scale subdivisions and civil works across Sydney or other similar growth centres.

 

Formal qualifications such as a degree in Surveying/Spatial Information are preferred.

Be prepared to simultaneously oversee multiple ongoing projects, working with the Project Management team to provide cost effective solutions.  

 

A demonstrated capacity for data management, people management and client management are all essential criteria for the role.

 

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Mentoring and leadership of field teams
  • Maintaining high level data management processes
  • Reviewing electronic data for suitability to the approved hardcopy design, informing project management of inadequacies
  • Working with various groups in the project team to provide survey support
  • Reviewing and issuing project deliverables
  • Working with multi-platforms, preparing, or overseeing the development of digital terrain modelling (DTM) for site specific tasks (machine control)
  • Ensure all surveying tasks are undertaken in accordance with JKW Integrated Management System
  • Work towards / promote value add innovation to existing survey practices

 

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience with relevant qualifications
  • Strong background in residential subdivisions and or major infrastructure projects is essential including roads/tunnels/bridges/piling
  • Previous experience as a Survey Manager is essential
  • Demonstrated experience managing survey teams on major projects
  • Team focused and passionate about mentoring and training staff
  • Demonstrated capacity using software programmes across all aspects of the survey.
  • Familiarity with Magnet and Trimble Business Centre software is an advantage, but not essential. Other multi-platform software is acceptable.
  • Experience not limited to Topcon and Leica total stations for surveying activities
  • Experience not limited to Topcon (GPS and mm) and Trimble (GPS and UTS) machine control systems 
  • Data focused with a mindset of ensuring correct information is checked and distributed
  • Have a can-do attitude and still enjoys getting into the fieldwork when required
  • Demonstrated appetite for driving innovation.
